Fernbachkolben m, -s, - Fernbach flask Conical glass container with flat bottom; ratio of diameter to height is relatively large, compared with an Erlenmeyer flask. Used in microbial culture to provide a large surface for aeration.
Fesselverfahren   Captive process An enclosed process for surface production of vinegar, in which the culture is pumped over a packing of beech chips. Generally, an immobilized culture process.

Froudezahl   Froude’s number Dimensionless number based on stirrer diameter and speed
Fruchtkörper   Fruiting bodies Reproductive structures of myxobacteria
Fumarat   Fumarate Anion of fumaric acid, the trans form of HOOCCH=CHCOOH (the cis form is maleic acid)
Futtermittel   Feed additive Additive for animal feed
